About the Job
Job Title: Hospital Tray Assembly.
Classification: Temp to Perm.
Pay Rate: $15 an hour.
Shift: Open availability and work every other weekend.
Location: Tampa, FL.
Required: Interview by client.
Responsible for assembling patient meal trays accurately and quickly according to specific medical diet orders, food safety rules, and individual patient preferences.
Key Responsibilities:
- Read and Verify Tickets: Review printed meal tickets or digital screens to check patient names, room numbers, and strict dietary requirements (such as low-sodium, diabetic, renal, pureed, or allergy-specific diets).
- Assemble Trays on a Line: Work on a fast-paced kitchen assembly line ("tray line") to add correct food portions, side dishes, beverages, condiments, and utensils onto meal trays.
- Check for Accuracy: Inspect completed trays against the meal ticket to ensure 98% or higher accuracy before the food carts are dispatched to patient floors.
- Maintain Food Safety: Monitor and record hot and cold food holding temperatures, follow guidelines, and discard expired stock.
- Sanitation and Cleaning: Clean and sanitize work counters, equipment, and the assembly station before and after meal periods; may assist in the dish room or restock supplies.
- Delivery and Stocking: Stock station par levels (milk, juice, fruit cups, utensils) and occasionally deliver trays to nursing units or patient rooms.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Education: A High School Diploma or GED is preferred by many facilities but is often not strictly required.
- Experience: Prior food service or institutional kitchen experience is helpful.
- Core Skills: Basic reading, writing, and math skills to interpret diet tickets and recipes; strong attention to detail; and the ability to stand, walk, and lift up to 25 pounds.
